I have compared the cost of milk, bread and eggs (the cheapest Publix options) to the same in at least 5 other cities (including Manhattan) and we come in at least $2 more than the next most expensive (which was Manhattan). You have to go out of your way to shop generic at Walmart to get close to what the rest of the country is paying for food staples.

The interesting thing about Ocala and Gainesville is while the population of Gainesville within the city limits is larger than the city of Ocala, the Ocala metro area has far more people. Marion County FL has over 375,000 people with Ocala as the principal city. Alachua county FL has 278,000 with Gainesville as the principal city. (2020 census numbers). Also Gainesville votes heavily left leaning in elections and Ocala is right leaning. I think this is important for people to know.

Condos was a dumb concept from the beginning for buyers. Basically they sold you an apartment so you would never leave and charge you more than you would pay if you were a renter.

President Biden should do an Executive Order that any Senior over the age of 62 on a Fixed Income should be exempt from paying condo insurance premiums and special assessments. It wouldn't cost the government any money. They could just charge the other owners in the building under age 62 more money to cover the costs.

Even the relatively rich are moving out. Florida is a money pit.

Nothing less than a tragedy for countless condo owners. Sold mine in December and felt like I got off the Titanic before the sinking. Not a lack of reserves but criminal negligence of safety inspection causing the Miami condo collapse.

ALL TRUE! I have lived here for almost 30 years! He did not mention many things, like bears, bats, coyotes, owls, lizards everywhere walking on the furniture on your porch and so many other animals I encounter daily. Bugs and mosquitoes are horrible (ticks too). The heat and humidity that he discussed in the video can be multiplied by 10. Exactly, no one can live here without A/C. Home insurance is a mess, my home insurance just dropped my home for no reason. Plus, termite protection and pest control in your home is a MUST. Add this necessity to your budget as well. The traffic is horrible! Disney is overrated! It is overpriced and you have to stay hours in line in the heat and humidity to go to the rides. It is simply not worth it! The best thing is to stay home, and avoid de traffic, heat and humidity.

You couldn't pay me to live in FL. It's not just the insane weather, heat, humidity and wildlife, but native Floridians are a little nuts. The "Florida man" meme didn't come from nowhere. It's definitely not for me. I need more temperate weather and less nightmare inducing wildlife.

I've lived in Florida for 20 years and haven't seen that many alligators or snakes. You can find them if you go looking for them but it's Florida. You expect to see wildlife. Duh. That's why we love it here. You have to share your home with theirs. Plus, we get to see dolphins, mantees, otters, Ospreys, Bald Eagles, etc...I saw two Spotted Manta Rays the other day. It is quite amazing here.
